The Venues

There will be seven venues in total, in and around Longreach. Around a maximum of 1.5 kms apart. These include restaurants, hotels, clubs and The Longreach Civic Centre. A number of tables will be at each venue. The finals series will be held at the Longreach Civic Centre. Transportation will be available to those that need it.

Starlight’s Hideout Tavern

Our major local sponsor and the place that this whole concept started! Situated on Eagle St Longreach, Starlight’s Hideout Tavern plays host to a Friday night pool comp with up to 20 players competing for up to $500 in prize money. Owned and operated by Town and Country Pubs, this establishment makes an ideal venue for this competition and will operate 2 or 3 tables, bars and eating facilities for this competition. It is also the venue for the ‘after party’ following presentations.

The Lyceum Hotel

Another sponsor and again situated on Eagle St, The Lyceum Hotel is one of Longreach’s oldest established hotels. Recently refurbished to now include a very pleasant beer garden and new bar, the Lyceum Hotel plays host to a Sunday arvo pool comp and ‘kick back’ session. This establishment will operate 2 tables, bar and eating facilities and also has accommodation for players.

The Longreach Club

A modern establishment tastefully decorated and conveniently located in Duck St Longreach. The Longreach Club is one of the favoured night spots of this town. Regular live entertainment, good food and an all round ‘good feel’, makes it a great venue for our competition. Operating 2 tables, bar facilities and food will be available.

The Longreach Civic Centre

Kindly and generously, The Longreach Regional Council have afforded us the use of the Longreach Civic Centre. This venue is a fantastic staging venue, and whilst will operate several tables during the competition, is a great place to stage the finals series. With seating for hundreds offering visibility to the tables being played, this is as good as venues get! A bar and food will be operated by Starlight’s Hideout Tavern on the premises.

Discovery Holiday Parks Longreach

My employer, and the establishment that I, together with my wife, have managed for a couple of years now. Our ‘Woolshed’ licensed bar and restaurant makes an ideal venue to operate 3 tables for this event. Together with bar facilities, food and accommodation we hope that you enjoy this place as much as we do!

Qantas Founders Museum

Whilst many consider Longreach itself to be iconic of this country, Longreach owes its very being to those that pioneered and settled out here. Qantas, now an internationally recognised symbol of our great country, made its humble beginnings here in Longreach. In tribute to those that dared, the Qantas Founders Museum has dozens of interactive and static displays telling the story of those individuals that shed tears, sweat and blood to pave the way. With a licensed bar, cafeteria and a ‘GREAT 747’ parked out front, The Qantas Founders Museum will operate 2 tables and is a fantastic venue for those lucky enough to be drawn here. Even if you don’t get to play here, make some time for a visit!

The Australian Stockman’s Hall Of Fame/The Cattlemen’s Bar & Grill

Imagine living in a house without insulation, air conditioning, even fans! Then imagine endless summer days of 45 degrees plus and nights of no cooler than 30! Imagine tending a flock of thousands of sheep or mob of cattle that stretch into the sunset on horseback. Then the rains set in, and instantly the ground swallows you up to your knees in sticky black mud. Even if you could imagine all this, the reality would be far harder than your mind could ever have given credence to. Yet, that is pretty much how life was to those pioneers that settled this harsh Australian Outback. The Australian Stockman’s Hall Of Fame is a shrine to those that battled the odds, the heat, the dust,  the flies and the floods to produce some of the best beef and wool in this country. This purpose built dedication to those men and women will now play host to a different kind of battle. The Cattlemen’s Bar and Grill (attached to the Stockman’s Hall Of Fame) will operate 2 tables out of the original RM Williams Cottage! A licensed bar will operate and food will be available.

I would personally like to thank all owners/managers of these listed venues for their support for this event. Needless to say, without them, none of this would have ever been possible.
